What we collect
When you email us to start the free kit, we get:
- Your email address
- What you write in your email (for example your goal, your one step for this week, when you will start or that you already started, and where you heard about the kit)
We do not ask for phone numbers for calls. Delivery is written and async.
The Send feedback and Ask for help buttons in the app open your own email app. Nothing is sent until you send it. If you do, we get the same things as above: your address and what you write, which may include your goal and step.
We count page visits anonymously with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and does not track you across sites.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It loads no outside fonts, ads, videos, or chat tools. The only outside script is the cookie-free visit counter above.
Who handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts this website and the app. It counts visits on this website only.
- Proton handles our email at hello@getnextstepkit.com.
- Your browser or phone maker's push service (for example Apple, Google, or Mozilla) delivers app reminders, if you switch them on.
We do not sell or share your email with anyone else.
Why we collect it
We use this information only to send your free Next Step Kit and to reply to you in writing. Right now that is the free Day-1 kit, plus written follow-up only if you reply.
No calls. No selling your address.
Unsubscribe and deletion
You can stop anytime by replying stop to any kit email. We will stop sending kit messages to that address.
We keep your email and answers while you use the kit, and delete them when you reply stop or ask us to delete them.
The app
The app at app.getnextstepkit.com is separate from this website. There is no account to create, no ads, and no visit counter.
On your device. Your goals, steps, check-ins (energy, mood, and notes) and settings are stored only in your browser on your device. They are not sent to us. Backups you save go wherever you choose. We never see them.
Sync between devices (optional). Your data is encrypted on your device with a key only your devices know. Our server stores just an encrypted copy it can't read. We can't recover it if the sync code is lost on all your devices. A copy left unused for 400 days is deleted.
Reminders (optional). To send reminders, our server keeps:
- your reminder time, time zone, and language
- the date you last checked in
- the push address your browser gives us
- whether the weekly look-back is on
- which days a reminder was sent
- while a step timer runs, when it ends, so it can tell you
The notification text from our server is general. Your goals and steps are never sent for reminders.
Deleting your app data.
- Everything on your device: Settings, Your data, Delete all data.
- The synced copy: Settings, Sync between devices, Delete the synced copy.
- Reminders: turning them off deletes what our server keeps for them. A timer's end time is deleted once the reminder is sent or the timer stops.
Do you need an account? No. The app works on your device, offline too.
Can you use it on your phone and computer? Yes. Turn on encrypted sync in Settings and open the link on your other device.
